Laboratory drying oven 

Laboratory drying oven is one of the commonly used equipment in the laboratory, mainly used for drying, baking, sterilizing and other operations on items.

Working Principle

Heat conduction: The drying box is equipped with heating elements such as resistance wire, quartz heating tube, etc. After power is turned on, the current generates heat by doing work, which increases the air temperature in the box. The heat is transferred from the high-temperature heat source to the items to be dried, so that the moisture on the surface of the items obtains energy and begins to vaporize.
Thermal convection: The fan drives the air in the box to circulate and form forced convection. The hot air is transported to various parts of the box through ventilation holes or air ducts, fully contacting the items to be dried, accelerating heat transfer and moisture evaporation. At the same time, some models are equipped with air inlets and outlets to introduce fresh air from the outside and discharge humid air, further improving the drying efficiency.
Temperature control: The temperature sensor monitors the temperature in the box in real time and feeds back the signal to the temperature control instrument. The temperature control instrument automatically adjusts the power of the heating element according to the difference between the set temperature and the measured temperature, so that the temperature in the box is stable within the

According to the inner cavity pressure state

Ordinary drying oven: The inner cavity is at normal pressure, which is suitable for samples that do not require a high drying environment, are not easily oxidized or are not sensitive to air.

Vacuum drying oven: It has the function of sealing the inner cavity. The air in the cavity is extracted outwards through an external vacuum pump to make the inner cavity reach the required vacuum degree. It can accelerate the volatilization of water at a lower temperature. It is suitable for samples that are heat-sensitive, easily oxidized or difficult to dry under normal pressure.

By operation panel position

Horizontal drying oven: The operation panel is placed on the left or right side of the machine. The internal space is relatively spacious, which is convenient for placing large or more samples, and the drying efficiency is relatively high.

Vertical drying oven: The operation panel is usually placed on the upper or lower part of the machine, with a small footprint, suitable for placement in laboratories with limited space, and is often used for drying small samples

By convection

Blast drying oven: a forced convection drying oven, which circulates hot air in the oven through a fan, has a fast drying speed and good temperature uniformity, and is suitable for drying most samples.

Natural convection drying oven: relies on natural convection of air to transfer heat, and the temperature uniformity in the oven is relatively poor, but it is more suitable for some powder drying and samples with powder on the surface, which can reduce powder flying.
